William Lyons

Senior Pastor

Pastor William B. Lyons Jr. is a passionate preacher, community leader, and servant of God dedicated to transforming lives through faith, love, and service. As Senior Pastor of Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Reno, Nevada, he leads with a vision to Exalt the Savior, Equip the Saints, and Evangelize the Lost.

With a heart for outreach and restoration, Pastor Lyons has guided Greater New Hope through seasons of spiritual growth and community impact, launching initiatives that feed the hungry, support families, and strengthen faith. Beyond the pulpit, he is also the owner of Papa What You Cooking, a Southern-style restaurant known for “Cooking with Love.”

Pastor Lyons’ ministry blends biblical truth with real-life application, inspiring people to walk in purpose, unity, and hope. His life’s message is simple yet profound: faith still works, love still heals, and God still saves.

Kenneth J Chatfield

Evangelism & Discipleship Pastor

Pastor Kenneth J. Chatfield serves as the Evangelism & Discipleship Pastor at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Reno, Nevada. A passionate teacher and soul-winner, he is dedicated to helping believers grow in their walk with Christ and equipping the church to reach the lost.
With a heart for mentoring and missions, Pastor Chatfield leads with humility, wisdom, and a deep love for God’s Word. His ministry emphasizes both spiritual growth and practical outreach—empowering every believer to live out the Great Commission.

Clifford Hicks

Deacon

Deacon Hicks serves faithfully as both a Deacon and the Director of the Security Ministry at Greater New Hope Baptist Church. Known for his steady presence and protective spirit, he takes great pride in ensuring the safety and peace of every worship service and event. His leadership reflects a deep devotion to God, the church, and its people—standing watch with both faith and diligence.

Driven, prayerful, and committed to excellence, he works to create a secure environment where members can worship, grow, and fellowship with confidence.

One of his guiding scriptures is 2 Corinthians 12:9–10 (NASB):
“And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’  Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.”

Ashley Hicks

Women's Ministry Leader

Ashley Jean Hicks serves as the Women’s Ministry Leader at Greater New Hope Baptist Church. A dedicated wealth management advisor, Ashley integrates her professional expertise with her passion for ministry to inspire women to grow in faith, purpose, and confidence. She is committed to helping others trust God wholeheartedly, steward their gifts with wisdom, and embrace strength and grace in every season of life.

Maurice Walker

Deacon

Maurice Walker has faithfully served at Greater New Hope Baptist Church since March 1996. A devoted servant of God, he is passionate about showing kindness to everyone he meets and demonstrating the love of Christ in both word and deed.
Maurice finds inspiration in Ephesians 4:12, believing in the call to equip the saints for the work of ministry and to build up the body of Christ. He serves the Lord with gladness and humility, committed to helping Greater New Hope continue to grow in love, unity, and purpose.
